Andrea Doria Bell and Mike Boring at August Meeting
Join us on July 13th at Mi Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, located at 8250 Midlothian Turnpike, in Richmond, for good food, great friendships, and cool dive talk.
Mike Boring one of the most respected deep divers in the world, will talk about the history of diving the Andrea Doria and the colorful people who made the recovery of the Andrea Doria bell possible. He will be bringing the bell with him for us all to see.
In addition to diving the Andrea Doria, in 1990, Mike, while chartering his dive boat the Sea Hunter, discovered the wreck of the steamer Eureka, a steaming 4 masted freighter that had collided with another ship in heavy seas in 1888 off the Virginia coast.
Mike is also known for leading a US/UK/Polish technical diving expedition to explore the site of history's greatest maritime
catastrophe, the shipwreck of the Wilhelm Gustloff, a Nazi refugee ship overcrowded with Germans and their allies fleeing the vengeful Soviet army.
Don't miss this opportunity to hear from one of Diving's history makers. Socializing begins at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!
